What happens when Central Texas meets Sub-Saharan Africa?

Austin, TX – In the age of rapid globalization of ideas, products and services, it can be hard to see how an app can change the developing world.  With that in mind, a group called “Developers Doing Development,” housed in East Austin’s Chicon Collective will be hosting a networking exchange with 25 of Africa’s most promising entrepreneurs and business owners from 18 different countries.  It is a first-of-its-kind mashup of technology, business, and the developing world in Austin.  The event, held in partnership with the International Office at the University of Texas at Austin, will occur July 8th, at the former 301 Chicon Street Bus Depot.

Backed by the White House and President Barack Obama, the 25 fellows of the Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders have been touring Austin for the last several weeks, learning from some of Austin’s best and brightest to develop international ties and to inspire a new age of innovation and entrepreneurship across the whole of Africa. [···]
